oh hey

This Thanksgiving was amazing to say the least!!

I wish I could upload some pictures of my adorable nephew and fun times with the family but my Laptop is officially broken and not fixable. Well I mean it is... but for 400 dollars. Yuck
Josh, my amazing brother-in-law, spent about a day taking it apart and figuring out what was wrong. I felt bad that he spent so much time on it but he said that it was fun! Ha, I guess we all have different versions of 'fun' and fun for him is taking apart computers... awesome!
Anyway, he got to the motherboard
(which is like the brain of the computer... he had to tell me that, I had no idea!
and he said that part of it melted...
GREAT
So I would have to replace that, but it is expensive so I will just have to buy a new laptop... Awesome...
good thing I am loaded... Not...
But I really am super grateful that my parents taught me how to save money back in high school so that I can buy a new one! They really are the best.
Now I just need a job, because my bank account is taking a huge hit from all this tuition and housing business...

But now for some Thanksgiving Highlights
1. FOOD. and good food. Man I sure miss my moms cooking.
2. Family. I miss my family. And my dog. And mostly my family. So it was so good to see everyone and Grandma Schlappi came down and so did the Worthingtons! I am so glad. I love Aunt Coco, and Kyla, and Kamryn. And Coley. Okay... I just love them ALL! Really. It was so fun to be with them all week!
3. Black Friday Shopping - I have never been a huge shopper and especially not on Black Friday. But this time we went and although I didnt get a million things... (which is good because I need a new laptop now) I did splurge on an item that was a great deal though. And I am happy with my purchase. But it will reamain a secret so that I won't get crap from my brothers and Dad. But my mom told me to so I did!! Haha...We shopped at Chandler Mall from Midnight until 6 AM. I have never been so tired! Then at 11 AM good ol' Kyla comes in and says "Alright! Time to go to Target!!" Um, hi! I have only slept for 5 hours... Not enough sleep... But, I went anyway. And it was fun. The whole Black Friday Shopping excursion was just fun and we made some great memories. I loved it.
4. Sharing a bed with Nate dawg and Travis. Alright for some people they think that sisters and brothers should not share a bed and that it is weird, but hey, I don't. Thats how I grew up! When it was just me and Nate in the house half the time he slept in my bed anyway and we would stay up late talking or watching movies on the laptop. Those were some good times. Anyway, it was quite the experience to share a bed with 2 of my brothers. With Travis hogging the covers, Nate kicking all night, and me almost falling off the bed lets just say I didn't really get a lot of sleep. Ever.
5. Seeing Spencer and Andy. I miss those 2 boys. We hung out Friday night? Yeah, and played lots of poison, or squash... some people call it different things... around the pool table for hours and then caught up. It was great. But time flies when you are having good conversation and I ended up leaving at around 4:20 am. I know, I am such a partier... ha, but really I was shocked that it was that late and that I was even still awake because of the fact that I went to bed at 6 AM the previous morning!! Lets just say my body clock is still a little off
6. Getting stuck in Cedar City. Yeah it snowed, and it stormed, and there was A LOT of traffic and it took us foreverrrrr. But we made it home safe and sound :)

Anyway, My thanksgiving was great and I can't wait for next year! I love Holidays centered around food :)
AND 3 weeks until I get to go home for CHRISTMAS!!!! :)

It is good to be able to open the fridge and eat whatever you want because it isn't your roomates!!! Oh so amazing :)
I love HOME!!

ps, I got to see an AMAZING sunset while drving home! Oh how I miss seeing these almost every night.

ps, it was 10,000 more times gorgeous but alas pictures never do sunsets justice AND it was taken by the camera on my phone... :(

I hope everyone else got to go home for Thanksgiving and is as happy to be home as I am!!!!!!!

Get out.

I'm Obsessed.
Some of you may know that if I am not in the library, class, or doing homework I can be found (without fail) lounging on our couch in our kitchen watching Food Network. Daily I pathetically sit there for hours watching all my favorite shows. Ironically it is always around dinner time and I am munching on a glamorous PB&J or some Pasta-Roni that I whipped up in 5 minutes while I watch the most yummy looking and super fancy meals being made. I'm addicted. It is sad when it's 10 p.m. on a weekend and probably 4 of us roomies are sitting around the TV glued to Iron Chef America, Choppped, or Throwdown with Bobby Flay. We love it. Too bad I never make real food... If only they had a culinary school here at BYU, then I definitely would know what I wanted to do for the rest of my life!
Anyway it's time to share some happy and sad news about some recent discoveries...

Happy:
A new season of Cupcake Wars starts December 7!!!!!!!! I legitimately screamed with joy!! And no, I am not a screamer usually... so this is a BIG DEAL. I love that show :)
Sad:
They are canceling Ace of Cakes!! In the words of uncle ronnie, "No Fetching Way". I am so sad! Really, my lovely sister sent me an email about it and it really put a damper on my happy mood for about 5 minutes when I read about it... But oh well, Cupcake Wars will  have to suffice :)

And if you think I am super weird because I love Food Network, cool. You probably never watch it so you don't understand how amazing it is... And I love it so that's all that matters :)

ps, I will be home TOMORROW!! I can't wait, I can't wait, I can't wait!!
But there is only one problem... Because we don't have cable I will have to live without Food Network all week... Hopefully I survive! And Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!

p.p.s. I had an AMAZING weekend... and there will be a picture/story time overload over Thanksgiving because I can finally upload my pictures!!!

Soccer

I love it.
and being away from it and thinking I will never play again, and then getting right back into it makes me love it even more.
I love winning our tournament game 3-2 with the game winning goal at 40 seconds left
(and no, it wasn't me...
I love the adrenaline. I love the competitiveness. I just love it all.
Playing intramural soccer here at the Y really makes me glad I didn't quit in high school and focus on Pole Vaulting like I seriously contemplated doing. It is just so fun to be with a bunch of girls with the sole motive for winning is for a shirt, and well for our pride of course :)
Pole vaulting was amazing, and I loved it but I can't just pick it up and play whenever like I can soccer.
So I am so so glad I never quit. I love soccer, and our intramural team
I'll post the latest picture of our team once Emily puts it on Facebook, but for now high school will suffice.

Ohh how I miss high school soccer. And Brian...

vs.
pole vaulting.
I love these lovely ladies

Now THIS is an adrenaline rush :)

Dang, now I want to vault!!
Maybe sully will love me winter break and let me practice with them?? Yes please.

Well, Happy weekend everyone!!!

Life gave me lemonade, and I can't imagine why... :)

I have been super happy lately and I just don't know why! Maybe I do :)... I don't know.

Maybe it's the fact that I am all caught up on my homework and have no more tests or huge papers do until AFTER thanksgiving.
Or maybe because I recently discovered the song called Lemonade by Chris Rice that I just love love love
Or probably because I just love my Book of Mormon teacher and going to that class twice a week...
Or it could be because I am getting a decent amount of sleep.
Maybe because BYU beat the Aggies last night in a super intense basketball game??
OR Because I have another Intramural game TONIGHT that I am so pumped for!

But the reason I am probably so happy really has got to be the fact that I get to see my amazing sister, studly brother, adorable nephew, wonderful parents, and the rest of the family in 4 DAYS!!!

I can't even wait!!

sister sister

You probably already know this... But I have the most amazing sister in the whole wide world.
I'm serious. If I could be like one person, It would be her.
I miss her probably more than anyone right now and cannot WAIT for thanksgiving. We have the most fun together and I just miss my best friend.
She is awesome.

Read an incredibly inspiring post by her at her blog

Today's the day

Today I have to write a 3 page essay on two 30 page articles I have barely skimmed over that is due TOMORROW and study more for/take my physical science test that ends TODAY.
Phew... I can do this, I can!

So I am getting off my blog, but I feel overwhelmed and this essay is killing me... I just need someone to start it for me! Or make my outline for me... any takers??

Also something really cool happened to me on Friday! Basically movie status. Something that happens to people but never to me! So I felt super special. I will blog about it sometime... I have pictures on my camera. So be excited!!

Alright well peace out, I hope everyone isn't as busy as I am today!!

Winner

So pretty much our Intramural team is amazing. We had our first game of the tournament last night and it was so fun! We got moved up into the middle bracket because we are just so unbelievably good, obviously, and are still undefeated!!! It feels so good.

the 'W's we are making with our fingers stand for Winners.... super creative, we know :)
But, what didn't feel so good was the 25 degree weather outside...

Lets just say freezing would be an understatement...

Best News EVER!!

So you know this beautiful girl right here? Yeah her name is Valerie Lee Goodman. And I am in love with her. And we like to think that we are really cool sometimes! :)

Living here in utah without her in my life is sad, like this.

Our friendship dates all the way back to Sophomore year when we were babies. That was the good life :)

And we have been best friends all high school. She has always been there for me and is just the greatest person ever. I have never met one person that does not completely LOVE Val.

We have had some crazy good times, and struggle to be act normal sometimes, but it's okay, we have funnnn

Sadly, after Graduation we separated and have been living in separate states hence the sad faces in the earlier picture...

But this lady right here is just amazing...
AND
a couple weeks ago the plan was that she was going to move up here in the winter time and go to esthetician school here in provo but, it wasn't for sure yet so the news could not be made public until she got the official acceptance into the school which OF COURSE she got!!!

So the good news is that... she DID get accepted and will be moving up here!!!!

Anyway, moral of the story is that I can officially announce this FANTASTIC news to the world!!! I am just unbelievably excited I don't even care that I already posted today!!
Really, I cannot wait for January.
I just love her.

Grateful

In honor of november I decided that I will make a list of things I took for granted pre-college. So it's basically like making a list of things I am grateful for :)
the typical november blog post...

1. Food.
Specifically, My moms food. Who knew that it took so much time and effort to make yummy food! I now feel so bad for ever complaining about gross food because even if it is gross, she still took forever making it. So yes mom, I appreciate your food. And basically everything you have ever done for me. Look at me, the typical college student now realizing how amazing my mother has always been. You're the best
2. My bed.
Umm hello, maybe it is just me, but I would probably be better off sleeping on the 4 foot couch. And don't get me wrong... I am not complaining, or trying to at least... because I love my bed and spend as much time as possible sleeping in it, but I have come to miss my amazing bed at home.
3. Family.
Specifically, Nathan Palmer, Ter, and Brigham. Me and nate dawg were the bestest of buds at home. We were the last two in the house and just had some good times. And tara! Where to begin. She is the best sister EVER! Really, no one can compare. And little Briggers. He is just the cutest nephew ever. I am sure he is speaking in complete sentences and has gained 10 pounds by now. I just miss him...
4. A Social Life
not like I had much of one at home... but, I like to think I did. And thinking I did leads to me taking it for granted. Maybe I just miss Mesa and being together with everyone... Here I just don't have one. Period. Which is probably a good thing.
5. My Laptop!
This is probably one of the things I took for granted the MOST. Now that it is broken I appreciate how convenient it is to have one and then recognize how good I have to be at managing my time.

I am sure this list could go on and on... but you probably have stopped reading by now anyway. But oh well...

15 days until I go home for Thanksgiving!!!
holler.

proof

Umm hi, welcome to my life.
Today in Bio100 - aka the easiest class of my life... we turned in our "Most Valuable Plant" Essays.
Like most essays these are the easiest one page 'essays' ever. So of course I procrastinated to the last minute. I did a lot of googling and found a plant that seemed valuable enough and wrote my paper on it.
The thing is, I probably couldn't tell you what the plant is called.... that's how much effort I put into it.

So I happened to be taking a tiny little nap during class because she posts all of her power points on Blackboard and I no longer have a laptop to keep me awake and looking busy so there was no stopping me from sleeping.

And here is where the short little story begins.
I wake up to Angela and Haylie talking accross me about how "they would just die if their named got called right now" as Professor Ostraff continues to talk about how she will choose randomly people to come and tell the class all about their most valuable plant they wrote about.

The next thing I hear as I am still waking up is... "Alright first one up is... Rachel, umm well I don't want to mispronounce this... umm... shhll, skkll... Rachel Skalappi?? Am I saying that right?"
Nope, nope nope. You are not saying it right and I wish I wasn't here...

That's when I hide my face and sink in my chair. But, that didn't work.
I slowly walk up to the front and the whole class feels bad for me because we all know this class and assignment was a joke.

I then proceed to tell the class about a plant that helps give blood flow to the brain.

Alright. 2 things.
Of Course I was the one called up...
and
Freshman mentoring just called me. They hate me. I just added a bundle, dropped it 2 minutes ago because I found different teachers that I liked and they already called me!! They are physco control freaks. Don't pick a bundle and then drop it to pick a different one... because they won't even give you 5 minutes before they call.
Love them.

happy weekend

Alrighty. Since we all know I am struggling without a computer, it is hard for me to blog. Even worse, I can't upload my pictures to post them. So until Thanksgiving, I will have a lackage of pictures on my blog. Darn.

But, I did a super fun weekend!!

Surprisingly I didn't dress up, so i guess it is alright that I don't have pictures.

Friday Night was filled with haunted houses...
yes, I went to 2! No, not the super expensive 20 dollar ones. A lot of my friends needed some service hours for American Heritage so they volunteered to be in a haunted house at some kids place. So me and some of my FHE brothers and cousins went to support them. They did awesome and I actually fell down 3 times because I was so scared. At a kids haunted house... yeah, it was a little embarrassing when the boys with me were laughing so hard the dude that scared me had to help me up. Awesome...
Then later that night we went to another one that only was 1 dollar! I love me some cheap entertainment. It was put on at some college kids at their house. And let me tell you... this one was at least 5 times scarier. They were allowed to like grab you and touch you and everything. Ohhh my goodness I was so scared. So unbelievably scared. I loved it. But I was found in the fetal position a time or two. The absolute best part was seeing Ryan and Mitchell on the ground hugging because they were so scared. Hahah... It was amazing.

Saturday
Now Saturday was eventful. Kelcey, Markie, Ryan and I set off to the mall because Ryan needed some new grey and white t-shirts. We agreed to go only if he would buy anything BUT grey and white. That is all he ever wears! So it was a successful trip and we came out with a dark red shirt and a blue one. Now he has some variety.
Saturday Night Ryan's friend sophisticated Geoff came over and we watched Titanic. It was only 4 hours long because it was on tv and had commercials every 5 minutes. Then at like 10:30 we went to Ihop. The best part about Ihop was that this dude came in dressed as Obama and had someone dressed up as Michelle Obama at his side and 4 secret service guys and he recited this little popular deal but with proper English and everything. Oh man, it was great. I loved it. Made my night.
And thennnn after Ihop I decided to become an official freshman and hike the Y for the first time ever. We started at midnight. But, it was just so fun...  and freezing

But basically, this weekend was fun. It didn't really feel like Halloween which is kinda disappointing, but that's okay... there will be another one next year.

ps, 22 DAYS until I get to go home for THANKSGIVING!!!!
